Annual CHE Conference /26-28 February 2025
The Council on Higher Education (CHE) will host its next Higher Education Conference in Johannesburg, Gauteng, and will focus on the theme The State of Quality of Higher Education in South Africa Three Decades into Democracy.
Since its establishment in 1997, the CHE has played a crucial role in maintaining educational standards in South Africa. This conference will reflect on the progress made in education quality since the country’s transition to democracy.
Over three days, students, educators, policymakers, and other stakeholders will engage in discussions on the state of higher education, addressing issues such as teaching quality, the impact of education on the labour market, and the creation of critical, engaged citizens.
Key objectives include evaluating the progression of education quality, analysing barriers to improvement, and assessing how well the education system meets both individual and national economic needs.

eLearning Africa Conference / 7-9 May 2025
The 18th International Conference & Exhibition on Digital Education, Training & Skills Development will be held at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. This key event will unite education professionals, policymakers, investors, and technology experts to discuss the future of education and skills development in Africa.
Founded in 2005, eLearning Africa is the continent’s largest platform for knowledge sharing. The conference will focus on transforming Africa’s educational landscape to prepare its workforce for global challenges like the Fourth Industrial Revolution, climate change, and AI. Sessions will explore how technologies like AI, digital literacy, and green skills can create a resilient workforce. IST-Africa Conference/ May 2025
IST-Africa 2025, the twentieth edition of the Ministerial Level Technology Research Conference, will be held in Nairobi, Kenya. Organised by the Government of Kenya and supported by the European Commission and the African Union Commission, the conference will showcase technology-enabled research, innovation, and ICT for Development (ICT4D) initiatives from Africa, Europe, and beyond.
The event will feature keynote presentations, high-level roundtables, technical papers, case studies, and workshops on advanced technology research and policy cooperation. Participants will also have the opportunity to explore future research partnerships under Horizon Europe.
The conference aims to support Africa’s information society, promote international research collaboration, and highlight the continent’s growing research capacity. It will also focus on using research outcomes to drive sustainable development in both public and private sectors.

25th AABD Annual Conference 2025 / 20-24 May
The Academy of African Business and Development (AABD) will host its annual conference at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. The event will bring together scholars, policymakers, business leaders, and community representatives to explore the theme: Reshaping Africa’s Sustainable Development through Digital Inclusion.
The conference will focus on the role of digital inclusion in enhancing economic resilience, social equity, and environmental sustainability across the continent.
Submissions are invited for full papers, abstracts, and special session proposals on tracks including Accounting, Finance, Entrepreneurship, Organisational Behaviour, AI, Marketing, Healthcare, Energy, and Supply Chain.
Themes of interest include Entrepreneurship and Innovation, African Nation Branding, African Consumer Behaviour, Misinformation and Cybersecurity, Business Risks and Insurance, and Labour Laws and Digital Inclusion.
Submission Guidelines: Abstracts (max. 300 words) should outline objectives, methodology, and key findings. Full papers (max. 7,000 words) must follow APA style. Submissions are accepted in English or French.

Inaugural Southern African Regional Universities Association (SARUA) Conference 2025 / 21–23 May
The first Southern African Regional Universities Association (SARUA) Conference will take place in Lusaka, Zambia with the theme Innovating Higher Education for Sustainable Development across the SADC: Innovation for Impact.
The conference will focus on the need for higher education institutions to adapt to global shifts and respond to economic, technological, and social transformations.
Pre-conference workshops, on 19 and 20 May 2025, will cover topics like knowledge co-production, PhD supervision, and leadership in higher education.
Academics, researchers, and practitioners are invited to submit abstracts on conference themes including regional integration, innovation in higher education, digital transformation, and aligning education with the SDGs.
This event aims to highlight how universities can become hubs of innovation and contribute to regional growth through leadership, governance and sustainable practices.
